The China Import and Export Commodities Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, was established in the spring of 1957 and held in Guangzhou every spring and autumn. The Canton Fair, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Guangdong Province and undertaken by the China Foreign Trade Center, is a comprehensive international trade event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete categories of goods, the largest number of buyers and the most extensive sources, the best trading results and the best reputation in China. It is known as the first exhibition in China and a barometer and weathervane of China's foreign trade.
The Canton Fair is a window, epitome and symbol of China's opening up and an important platform for international trade cooperation. Over the past 65 years, the Canton Fair has successfully held 130 sessions and established trade relations with more than 220 countries and regions around the world. The total export volume is about 1.5 trillion US dollars, and the total number of overseas buyers entering the Expo is about 9 million, which has greatly promoted China's trade and friendly exchanges with other countries.
Premier Li Keqiang attended the opening ceremony, delivered a keynote speech, made an investigation and gave important instructions. He hoped that the Canton Fair would become better and better, scale a new height of reform and opening up, expand a new pattern of mutual benefit and win-win results, and create new achievements in sustainable development.
We should better serve the national strategy, serve the all-round opening up, serve the innovative development of foreign trade, and serve to build a new development pattern.
